Punjab and Haryana High Court Grants Bail to Jagdish Bhola in 2013 Drug Racket Case

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday granted bail to Jagdish Bhola, a former Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and alleged kingpin in the multi-crore drug racket uncovered by Punjab Police in 2013.

While the detailed order is yet to be uploaded, the court reportedly considered Bhola’s prolonged incarceration and the unlikely prospect of his appeal being decided anytime soon as key factors in allowing the bail plea.

Bhola, a former international wrestler turned police officer, has been in jail since his arrest in 2013. He was convicted in a narcotics-related case and has remained behind bars for over a decade. All appeals against his conviction are currently pending before the High Court.

Bhola was represented by senior advocate Vikram Choudhri during the hearing. The court’s decision marks a significant development in one of Punjab’s most high-profile drug-related cases.
