Woman Injured in Pakistan Drone Attack Dies; Family Demands Martyr Status and Rs 1 Crore Compensation
Sukhwinder Kaur (60), a resident of Khai Pheme Ki village near the Ferozepur cantonment, succumbed to injuries sustained in a drone attack by Pakistan on Friday night. She was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Ludhiana when she passed away.
The incident occurred three days ago when a projectile from a swarm drone launched from across the border was intercepted by the Indian Army’s air defence system. However, debris from the destroyed drone fell onto a car parked outside Kaur's house. The impact triggered an explosion that was intensified by the ignition of the car's CNG cylinder, resulting in a massive blast.
Kaur, her husband Lakhwinder Singh, and their son Monu (25) sustained serious injuries. While initial treatment was administered at a local private hospital, Sukhwinder and her husband were later referred to Dayanand Medical College (DMC) in Ludhiana for advanced care. Tragically, Kaur could not survive. The family had already endured a previous tragedy, having lost their younger son Gurjant Singh in a road accident three years ago.
The drone attack was reportedly aimed at a military installation but veered off course and hit the adjoining village, triggering panic and outrage among local residents.
