Sunil Jakhar Urges Punjab to Stand in Solidarity with Jammu and Kashmir After Pahalgam Tragedy

BJP leader Sunil Jakhar on Tuesday expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident in Pahalgam and called for a united show of solidarity from Punjab toward the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a heartfelt statement, Jakhar said, "What happened in Pahalgam has shaken all of us — not just as citizens of this country, but as human beings." Drawing parallels with Punjab’s own experience as a border state scarred by decades of terrorism, he highlighted the shared trauma, suffering, and long struggles for healing that follow such tragedies.

Jakhar also extended his full support to Omar Abdullah’s statement in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, praising Abdullah’s refusal to politicize the tragedy and his acknowledgment of the Sikh community’s selfless service during the crisis. Jakhar described Abdullah’s gesture as embodying the true spirit of India and resonating strongly with the essence of Punjabiyat — compassion, courage, and resilience.

“To honor that spirit and to stand with our brothers and sisters in Jammu and Kashmir during this hour of grief, I urge the Chief Minister of Punjab to lead an all-party delegation to J&K,” Jakhar said. He emphasized that solidarity should not be limited to words but demonstrated through concrete action — by conveying a message of peace and brotherhood not merely as political figures, but as fellow human beings.

“Today, more than ever, the nation needs healing — and that healing begins with empathy, unity, and decisive action,” he added.
