SAD (Amritsar) Holds 'Miri Piri' Conference at Talwandi Sabo, Raises Key Sikh Issues on Baisakhi

The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), led by party president and former Member of Parliament Simranjit Singh Mann, organized the annual "Miri Piri" conference outside Takht Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo on the occasion of Baisakhi.

The event witnessed a significant turnout, with participants arriving from various parts of Punjab and beyond. During the conference, speakers voiced deep concerns over what they described as ongoing injustices faced by the Sikh community at the hands of the Central government.

Key issues highlighted included the lack of action against those accused in sacrilege cases involving the Guru Granth Sahib, the alleged exploitation of Punjab's river waters, and the exclusion of Punjabi-speaking areas from the state. Speakers also expressed frustration over the continued imprisonment of Sikh political prisoners (Bandi Sikhs), the delay in holding Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) elections, and the absence of justice for victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and families affected by fake police encounters.

In a related development, Punjab Police reportedly stopped a rally that SAD (Amritsar) supporters had planned to take out from Mansa district to Takht Damdama Sahib. The rally included the display of Khalistani flags, prompting the authorities to intervene and halt the procession.
