Rupnagar District Gears Up for Monsoon with Flood Preparedness Measures
With the monsoon season approaching, the Rupnagar district administration has launched its annual flood preparedness initiative to mitigate the impact of seasonal flooding.
A high-level coordination meeting involving officials from multiple departments was convened to assess the district’s readiness and streamline flood management strategies. Authorities emphasized the importance of completing all necessary arrangements swiftly and maintaining the administration on high alert throughout the season.
Sub-Divisional Magistrates of Rupnagar, Morinda, Nangal, Chamkaur Sahib, and Anandpur Sahib have been instructed to conduct thorough inspections of dams, embankments, and canals in their respective areas. They have also been directed to implement preventive maintenance and fortification measures wherever needed.
In parallel, executive officers of municipal councils and nagar panchayats have been assigned the task of clearing seasonal streams (choes), rivulets, and drainage systems. These efforts aim to prevent waterlogging and reduce the risk of urban and rural flooding.
The administration’s proactive approach reflects a growing focus on disaster preparedness and infrastructure resilience amid increasingly unpredictable weather patterns.
