Punjabi Businessman Harjit Singh Dhadda Shot Dead Outside Office in Mississauga

Mississauga, Canada – A prominent 50-year-old Punjabi businessman, Harjit Singh Dhadda, was shot and killed outside his office in Mississauga, according to officials on Thursday. The fatal shooting occurred near the intersection of Telford Way and Derry Road and has deeply shocked the local community. This marks the sixth homicide in the city so far this year.

Although Peel Regional Police have not officially released the victim’s identity, sources confirm Dhadda was the target. Witnesses report he was standing near his vehicle when gunmen, allegedly lying in wait, ambushed him and fired between 15 to 16 rounds before fleeing. The attack sent people in the parking lot scrambling for safety.

One eyewitness said the assailants emerged from a parked car, opened fire at close range, and escaped in the same vehicle. In a chilling near miss, a stray bullet entered a nearby law office and struck an empty chair just moments after an employee had stood up.

Dhadda was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries. Peel Police spokesperson Michael Stafford confirmed the case is now under active investigation, with authorities reviewing security footage from nearby buildings in hopes of identifying the shooters.

Originally from the Bajpur district in Uttarakhand, India, Dhadda immigrated to Canada nearly three decades ago. He established himself as a well-known figure in the region’s trucking industry.

Close associates, speaking anonymously, revealed that Dhadda had recently received threatening phone calls from Indian numbers. The threats had left him deeply disturbed. Reports also suggest that Peel Police had previously warned him about potential risks to his safety.

The investigation remains ongoing.
