Chandigarh – Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan has instructed Punjabi University authorities to rectify errors found in recent editions of the “Mahan Kosh”, the revered encyclopaedia of Sikh literature compiled by Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha, and to move forward with a revised reprint.

The directive came following a detailed meeting held at the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Secretariat, where Speaker Sandhwan discussed the issue with the Dean of Punjabi University, senior university officials, and representatives from the Punjab Language Department. The discussion focused on reported inconsistencies and errors that appeared in newer editions of the Mahan Kosh, which have drawn criticism from scholars and the Sikh community.

The university has also been tasked with submitting its findings and recommendations to the Punjab Government for appropriate action.

The meeting included several prominent attendees such as DGSE Punjab Girish Dayalan; Dr. Narinder Kaur Multani and Dr. Parminderjit Kaur from Punjabi University; advocate Kuljit Singh; Jaswinder Singh, Paramjit Singh, Hashpal Singh, Dr. Khushal Singh, Rajinder Singh Khalsa, Amarinder Singh, Pyare Lal Garg, and Ashok Chawla.

The Speaker emphasized the cultural and scholarly responsibility involved in preserving the integrity of such an important text and called for urgent corrective measures to protect its legacy.
