Partap Bajwa Seeks Extension for Appearance Before Cyber Crime Police in Bomb Remark Case
Punjab Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, through his legal counsel, has informed authorities of his inability to appear before the Cyber Crime Police Station in Phase 7, Mohali, at the scheduled time of Monday noon.
Citing the late receipt of the police summons — delivered on Sunday night — Bajwa has requested a rescheduling of his appearance to 2 PM on Tuesday. The summons relates to an FIR registered against him on the night of April 13, following his recent controversial statement claiming that "50 bombs have arrived in Punjab."
The police booked Bajwa under Sections 353(2) and 197(1) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNS), with the case registered as FIR No. 19 at the Cyber Crime Police Station, Phase 7, SAS Nagar.
The notice issued by the Mohali Superintendent of Police states: “In pursuance of Sub Section (3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, I hereby inform you that during the investigation of FIR No. 19 dated April 13, 2025, it has been found that there are reasonable grounds to question you to ascertain facts and circumstances in relation to the ongoing investigation. Therefore, you are directed to appear before me at the concerned police station on Monday noon.”
With Bajwa seeking a deferral, all eyes will now be on Tuesday’s proceedings.
