NRI Shaminder Singh Gill Donates Bicycles, Encourages Education in Native Village

Shaminder Singh Gill, a retired SDO from the Electricity Department and a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) hailing from Badwala village in Bassi Pathana block, distributed 30 sports cycles and other incentives to students at a school function held today. The event aimed to promote education and increase student enrollment in the local school.

Amandeep Singh Gill, XEN of PSPCL Sirhind, was the chief guest, while District Education Officer (S) Sushil Nath presided over the ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Shaminder Singh Gill said the initiative was meant to motivate children from nearby villages to enroll in the Badwala school, thus increasing its student strength. He credited the school for playing a pivotal role in his own success and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to give back to his roots. “I feel fortunate to be able to support the students of the school where my journey began,” he said.

The school principal commended Gill for his generosity and deep connection with his native village, noting that he continues to support the school and the community by planting trees and donating essential items.

Adding to the goodwill, XEN Amandeep Singh Gill announced a contribution of ₹11,000 for the purchase of a printer for the school.

The event also featured a vibrant cultural programme presented by schoolchildren. Outstanding students were honored for their academic and extracurricular achievements. Former DPRO Jai Krishna Kashyap, the village sarpanch, panches, and several other local dignitaries attended the function, adding to the celebratory spirit of the occasion.
