Major Drug Bust in Amritsar: Over 18 Kg Heroin Seized, One Arrested

In a significant breakthrough, the Anti-Narcotic Task Force has seized 18.22 kilograms of heroin during a major operation in Khaira village, located in the Gharinda police jurisdiction of Amritsar.

The task force arrested Hira Singh, a resident of Khaira village, who is believed to have close ties with anti-national elements and smugglers based in Pakistan.

Gaurav Yadav, Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab, confirmed the development on social media, stating, “In a well-coordinated operation, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, Border Range, Amritsar, apprehended Hira Singh of Khaira village in Gharinda and recovered 18.227 kg of heroin.”

According to initial investigations, Hira Singh and his associate Kulwinder Singh, a resident of Dauke border village, were working in coordination with a Pakistan-based drug trafficker known as Billa. The duo allegedly smuggled heroin across the border and distributed it under Billa’s direction.

DGP Yadav further stated that raids are currently ongoing to arrest Kulwinder Singh. Authorities are also tracing the forward and backward links of the network in a bid to dismantle the entire smuggling operation.
