Heavy Rain and Storms Hit Northern India, Causing Damage in Himachal Pradesh
Chandigarh experienced heavy rain and strong winds early Thursday morning. However, the weather cleared up by the time residents woke up, and the sun made a welcome appearance. The city recorded 8.3 mm of rainfall.
Neighboring states Punjab and Haryana also received showers during this period.
Meanwhile, a sudden storm swept across several parts of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday night, causing significant damage. Power outages were reported in many areas, and strong winds uprooted trees, damaging vehicles and infrastructure.
The storm particularly impacted the upper Shimla region, where crops and fruit orchards were hit hard. Apple and other fruit growers suffered heavy losses as gusty winds wreaked havoc on their produce.
