Diljit Dosanjh Makes Regal Met Gala Debut in Tribute to Sikh Heritage

Global music sensation and Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh made a striking debut at the Met Gala 2025, walking the iconic blue carpet in an outfit that paid homage to the Maharaja of Patiala and proudly showcased his Sikh heritage.

Fresh off a sold-out world tour, Diljit arrived at the prestigious fashion event—held annually at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art—dressed in an opulent ivory-and-gold ensemble designed by American-Nepalese designer Prabal Gurung. Gurung, who previously styled Bollywood star Alia Bhatt for the Met Gala, created a look that blended tradition with high fashion.

Diljit wore a regal sherwani paired with a tehmat, and his bejewelled turban featured a white kalgi (plume) and a lion-headed, jewel-encrusted kirpan—a ceremonial sword significant in Sikh culture. A standout element of his attire was a flowing cape embroidered with a silhouetted map of Punjab and Gurmukhi script, symbolizing both legacy and pride.

Videos shared by Diljit’s team on Instagram captured moments from his historic appearance. One clip, captioned “HISTORY #diljitdosanjh #metgala,” showed the singer descending the steps of his hotel en route to the Met. Another, featuring him confidently twirling his moustache, bore the caption: “He wore a Legacy.”

Diljit, who has become one of India’s most prominent international performers, confirmed his participation at the Met Gala just a day before the event, generating excitement among fans worldwide.
