CM Bhagwant Mann Warns of Legal Action Against Protests Disrupting Public Life

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday issued a stern warning against protests that disrupt public services, asserting that legal action would be taken against individuals or groups who hinder the state's development and disturb daily life.

Emphasizing the importance of maintaining public order, Mann said that while dissent is a democratic right, it must not come at the cost of public inconvenience. “There are many other ways to express disagreement. Blocking roads and rail tracks will not be tolerated,” he stated.

The Chief Minister highlighted the consequences of such disruptions, noting that road blockages often delay emergency medical services and that uninterrupted rail services are vital for transporting agricultural produce. “Such acts directly impact the lives of hardworking Punjabis,” he said.

Mann stressed that any demonstrations, strikes, or announcements causing distress to the public would be treated as actions against the state and its people. “Those responsible will face legal consequences. The development and prosperity of Punjab remain our top priorities, and we will not allow anyone to derail that,” he added.
