Ammunition Cache Recovered in Punjab; DGP Links Operation to ISI-Backed Terror Plot
Punjab Police on Tuesday announced the recovery of a significant cache of ammunition—including two rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) and five hand grenades—from the SBS Nagar district, in what officials suspect is part of a terror plot orchestrated by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav shared details of the recovery in a post on X, stating that the preliminary investigation points to a coordinated effort by ISI and allied terror groups to reactivate dormant sleeper cells within Punjab.
The cache was uncovered during a joint intelligence-led operation by Punjab Police and a central agency in a forested area near Tibba Nangal Kular Road. In addition to the RPGs and grenades, officers seized two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and a wireless communication set.
A case has been registered under relevant anti-terrorism laws at the State Special Operation Cell police station in Amritsar, officials confirmed.
