Akal Takht and SGPC Condemn Pahalgam Attack, Call for Justice and Peace

The officiating Jathedar of Akal Takht, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, has strongly condemned the recent attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, he extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. In a solemn prayer before the Akal Purakh, he sought eternal peace for the departed souls and strength for the bereaved families to accept the divine will.

Jathedar Gargaj also called for global peace, praying that such inhumane and violent acts never occur again anywhere in the world. He emphasized the need for unity, compassion, and harmony across the nation and beyond.

Reflecting on the tragedy, he said it reminded him of the horrific Chittisinghpura massacre of March 2000, in which 35 Sikhs were killed in Kashmir. He pointed out that the truth behind that incident still remains unclear and reiterated the demand for justice—not only for the victims of Pahalgam, but also for the families affected by the Chittisinghpura killings.

Echoing similar sentiments, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Harjinder Singh Dhami described the Pahalgam attack as an inhuman and brutal act that had deeply wounded the moral and spiritual fabric of society. He stressed that the teachings of spirituality and humanity promote peace, brotherhood, and unity—not violence.

Standing in solidarity with the victims and their families, Dhami offered prayers to the Karta Purakh, seeking peace for the departed and courage for the grieving families to bear their loss. He urged society to come together to uphold the values of justice, harmony, and compassion.
