25 Civil Hospital Muktsar Staff Served Show-Cause Notices Over Absenteeism, Lateness

Muktsar, Punjab – Nearly 25 employees, including doctors, lab technicians, and nurses at the Civil Hospital, Muktsar, have been issued show-cause notices for allegedly being absent without prior intimation or reporting late to duty. The action follows a surprise inspection by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Chandar Shekhar Kakkar on Saturday.

The CMO took strong exception to the negligent attitude of the hospital staff and made it clear that such conduct would not be tolerated. He instructed all personnel to report for duty on time and warned that any future lapses would lead to strict disciplinary action.

“A large number of people depend on this hospital. Any lapse in duty is a betrayal of the public trust. Staff must perform with full dedication or be prepared to face consequences,” Dr. Kakkar said.

He also directed the medical staff to prescribe only those medicines that are available in the hospital pharmacy, ensuring that patients are not forced to purchase medicines from outside.

Dr. Navroz Goyal, officiating Senior Medical Officer of the hospital, confirmed that the 25 staff members, including some doctors, were served notices. He added that a few of them had requested leniency, citing parent-teacher meetings at their children’s schools as the reason for their late arrival or absence.

The incident has sparked concern over staff discipline and accountability in public healthcare facilities, with authorities reaffirming the need for professionalism and punctuality, especially in institutions that cater to the health needs of the general public.
