IIT-Kanpur Tasked with AI Tech for Yamuna Cleanup, Urban Challenges: Dharmendra Pradhan
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday announced that the government has tasked IIT-Kanpur with developing artificial intelligence-based technologies to address critical urban issues, including cleaning the Yamuna River, reducing traffic congestion, and improving waste management.
Speaking at the launch of 400 new electric buses under the Delhi Electric Vehicle Initiative (DEVI), Pradhan said Delhi would be the first city to benefit from these "cutting-edge technologies," both homegrown and international.
“Cleaning the Yamuna is both our commitment and responsibility. IIT-Kanpur is developing AI-driven solutions not only for cleaning the river but also for combating air pollution,” he said.
Pradhan also praised Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who was present at the event, for her recent efforts since taking office. “Her leadership is already making a difference in the capital,” he added.
