FIR Lodged Against Actors Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda Over Alleged Disrespect to Christian Sentiments in Film 'Jaat'

Members of the Christian community in Jalandhar have filed an FIR against Bollywood actors Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, and Vineet Kumar Singh, along with two other members of the film crew of the recently released movie ‘Jaat’, alleging that a scene in the film disrespects religious sentiments.

The FIR was registered at the Sadar police station under Section 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings.

Also named in the complaint are the film’s director, Gopichand Malineni, and producer Neveen Melineni. ‘Jaat’ was released in theatres on April 11.

The complaint was filed by Viklaf Gold, who alleged that the film includes a scene that is offensive to the Christian faith. According to him, Randeep Hooda’s character is shown standing under a crucifix within a church, positioned directly above the pulpit while worshippers are seen praying. “We find this portrayal disrespectful and demand that the scene be removed,” Gold stated in his complaint to the police.

The matter is currently under investigation.
