Congress Workers Protest ED Chargesheet Against Gandhi Family in National Herald Case

New Delhi, April 17: Congress workers staged a protest on Wednesday outside the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters at 24, Akbar Road, condemning the BJP-led Central government over the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) chargesheet against senior party leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case.

The ED announced on Tuesday that it had filed a chargesheet on April 9 in connection with an alleged money laundering case involving the National Herald newspaper. Alongside Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, the chargesheet also names senior Congress leaders Sam Pitroda and Suman Dubey as co-accused.

Speaking at the protest, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate criticized the government's move, labeling it a politically motivated attempt to target the Gandhi family and the Congress party.

“This is a 12-year-old case, and nothing has come out of it so far. They are now calling it a money-laundering case, even though no financial transaction has taken place,” Shrinate told PTI Videos. “The truth is, the government is determined to harass the Gandhi family and dismantle the Congress, but we will fight back strongly.”

The protest reflects growing tensions between the ruling party and the opposition ahead of the upcoming elections, with the Congress accusing the government of misusing investigative agencies for political vendetta.
